OUR HISTORY
Cafiesa (Cacaos Finos Ecuatorianos S.A.) was founded in Guayaquil, Ecuador in 1974. In 1992 Triairi S.A. took over the cocoa processing facility, and continued to export to the international market becoming well-known for its quality products and reliability. Since then, Cafiesa Triairi has incresed its capacity three times, becoming the leading cocoa elaborates industry of Ecuador.

In June 2003 Cafiesa RD, an affiliate company, Started its operation in its new state of the art plant in the Dominican Republic, making it possible to obtain cocoa products from both origins, each one with its unique flavor and characteristics, and of course with the Cafiesa guarantee.

OUR COMMITMENT

Through the years, Cafiesa has developed unique quality control methods and process technology to continously improve the quality of its cocoa products. To assure the distinctive flavor of each cocoa variety, our raw material laboratories test each lot throughly based on organoleptic an physical/chemical characteristics. Thus, hibrid or defective beans are kept out of our production lines. After the raw material passes the lab tests, the cocoa beans are washed by a especially developed line prior to adding them to the roasting and grinding process. This takes away large quantities of dirt and extraneous matter that are usually sticked on the beans shell, and avoids cross-contamination from the shell to the cocoa nib. Each segment of our process line is continuosly checked by our professional quality assurance staff.
